I'm curious as to people's opinion on this particular bill.  Why does it make sense to increase the minimum hours per day?  Why doesn't it?  I would love to hear your feedback.

I think it's to make it harder for schools to meet their requirement for a school day, without actually doing any instruction.  I just read about a local school making up a snow day by counting parent conference day. Even though there would be no student instruction, they are contending there would be instructor student interaction, technically meeting the requirement for one of their 180 days.  Many schools are less interested in student achievement and just try to meet whatever the minimum requirement is to get paid.  This bill is a small way to try to insure the kids get a little more instruction.
